That voluminous lehenga gown with delicate mirror-work is most likely an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla creation. The antique weaved texture with heritage crafts is likely a Sabyasachi. While that bling-free embroidery creation is definitely Anamika Khanna.

The bridal couture of these mainstay designers has proved exciting for real and celeb brides. They have ushered in diverse bridal wear, bridal conversation, and serious bridal competition whilst offering twist to traditional staples.

Five Indian Designers Who Are Bridal Experts:

We have grown accustomed to these designers in India for bridal trousseau. Presenting: our top five!

1. Sabyasachi Mukherjee:

Imagine everything you love about bridal couture: delicate rare textiles, antique weaves, delicate silhouettes, heritage crafts. Now imagine it all in one streak, with a level of consistency. That’s Sabyasachi’s creation for you. The designer is forever nailing classic-with being progressive. Needless to say, the millennial bride favors his distinctive traditional wedding trousseau. To the designer, the quintessential Sabyasachi bride is “self-assured, confident, and sensitive about art and craft; and likes to wear beautiful clothes but not just to look good.”

Mukherjee believes that the modern bride should be curious and open to classic pieces that are visually beautiful. He wants to challenge brides to express themselves during their big day while being a traditionalist at heart. The bridal couture, he feels should align to the setting of the wedding also making sure the bride understands that being traditional will remain a classic.

2. Falguni and Shane Peacock:

Ethereal-yet contemporary, Falguni and Shane Peacock’s signature creation is for the avant-garde; the bride who embraces modern sensibility with dreamy dressing. With sari gowns or lehengas for the modernist and voluminous gowns for the romantic, the husband-wife designer duo has options for both the demi-romantic and modern bride seeking to create a statement.

Expect to see traces of romanticism, sequins, feathers, and expressionist glam influences in their collections. They believe in giving special touches with their use of statement-making silhouettes and never look for an easy way out whilst designing their roll and roll signature style.

4. Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla:

Bridal wear is chock-full of embroidery, appliqué, delicate beading, and the like. But options are minimal for the minimalist bride. Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla attempts to create that missing factor in bridal couture, but with a fresh slash. Khosla finely uses mirror work, gota, and chikankari that feels interesting during execution. He stated “Our quintessential bride is a woman who knows both her mind and her heart. Her wedding is a joyous celebration, which calls for fantasy and fabulosity, as defined by her.”

He is on every celeb’s’ list of favorite designers. And it’s not surprise to see Priyanka Chopra, Isha Ambani, and Sonam Kapoor chose his creations following the days before their wedding.

Anamika Khanna has a flair for weaving traditional and contemporary surrealism. Both her homegrown textiles and print motifs are a surprise upon close introspection for most brides. Think a splatter of bling-free embroidery or a textural inspired designs, and organic creations. Consistently inspired by the modern art of state, her designs feel equal parts sartorial and luxe.

The mainstay of Anamika’s collections are embroidered capes mostly teamed with draped skirts, lehengas, and flared pants. Actress Sonam Kapoor wore a bespoke blush pink lehenga for her bidai followed by a monochrome chevron striped cape lehenga set for her reception.
